Ben Curtis Former Dell Spokesman The Chattanooga, Tennessee native is 31 years old now. He was in “Joy”, off-Broadway, as well as a star of “Take Me Out”, and has a gay father who’s a retired Episcopal preacher and a gay sister apparently. I think you’d classify him as straight by nature but unusually open-minded and unusually candid about it:
“To be exact, my character (Christian) was ‘pansexual’ and then became fully gay by the end. It was actually very humbling and liberating. Too many guys are worried about ‘how they come off’ sexually. I just hope that I can be an example that straight men can dance, be sexy, effeminate, and open to the beauty of everyone.”
When Asked if he’s ever “experimented” like his character, Christian, Curtis says, “Absolutely, yeah. I appreciate men just as much as women, but I lean toward the female side.” So is it fair to say he’s straight? “Umm … I’d say I’m straight, but I’m open-minded. As Darryl says in the show, ‘I’m straight, but I’m not narrow.’
“When I went clubbing, the people I had the most fun with were gay men. They were the people that took me on, to the mixed clubs, mixes of gay and straight-those were the most fun in Atlanta. I was the only straight kid back in Tennessee that was really even open to hanging out with gay kids, so that had a lot to do with it.”
